Community P/L Calculator

Build a monthly snapshot of the value your community. No industry benchmarks are assumed. No assumptive correlations used; real numbers reveal tangible results.

Step 1 of 5Community & Revenue
01 / Foundation

Community & Revenue

Start with your full real community membership, average monthly revenue per real community member, and monthly community operating costs.

Real community members are defined as real registered stakeholders (i.e., Discord, Email, Forum, etc.), not social media followers or your wider audience.
Monthly average revenue across gross, real community membership. Not ARPPU or average purchase value.
$
Include whichever costs you attribute to community operations, including but not limited to, salaries/benefits, contractors, moderation, software/platforms, events/programming, agency fees, and attributable overhead or shared management/facilities costs. Use a recurring monthly average and avoid double-counting.
$
Gross economic value is a calculator-specific measure, not conventional company-wide profit. All figures are averages supplied by you and are not audited by the Glitch Index.
02 / Operational Contribution

Support & Community Content

Calculate average work handled by community operations that would otherwise require a paid customer support intervention.

Count issues resolved by community managers or members that would otherwise require customer support. Do not count issues handled by customer support.
Your average cost for one comparable ticket to be handled by your customer support team.
$
Monthly usable community content, stories, or service units that substitute for a paid equivalent.
Cost to produce or source one comparable unit another way (i.e., paying a writer for a blog; a YouTuber for a video).
$
Only count usable work that could genuinely replace spend or effort. Do not assign a cost to every post/meme by default; only if you would use it as a real asset in your marketing operations.
03 / Acquisition & Visibility

Referrals & Traffic

Count Count customers and traffic reasonably attributable to community activity.

Count only referrals resulting in paying customers—not leads, clicks, or raw referrals.
Your CAC benchmark for a comparable customer.
$

Traffic & Visibility Cost Avoidance

Choose CPC or CPM, not both. Enter your own comparable campaign benchmark.
$
Traffic value is a cost equivalent, not direct revenue. Avoid counting the same activity in more than one category.
04 / Market Intelligence

Research Contribution

The average replacement cost of usable research responses collected through community operations.

Count usable responses, not impressions or incomplete responses.
Your average chosen comparable recruitment or research response cost.
$
Use a realisticly comparable cost. The calculator does not supply industry benchmarks or assumptive values. If this is not applicable, user zero.
